H.E. Ms Katalin Novák, Minister of State for Family and Youth Affairs and H.E. Ms Boglárka Illés, Deputy State Secretary for Youth Affairs and Equal Opportunities, and Ms Zsófia Rácz, UN Youth Delegate participated at the 56th Session of the Commission for Social Development and the ECOSOC Youth Forum from 29-31 January 2018 in New York.
Minister of State Novák addressed the High-Level panels of the Commission and the Youth Forum, underlining the importance of decent work not only as a means to eradicating poverty, but also to setting an example for future generations, and the central role of family in this regard.
H.E. Ms. Novák shared successful policies and best practices at the full-house side event on “The Role of Family Policies in Eradicating Poverty”, and engaged with the audience at the event “Meet the Minister”, co-hosted with the Foreign Press Association at the Hungarian Mission to the UN.
During her visit, Minister of State Novák held fruitful discussions with Deputy-Secretary-General Ms Amina Mohammed, Youth Envoy of the Secretary General Ms Jayathma Wickramanayake, and several distinguished Member State partners. H.E. Ms Boglárka Illés met representatives of the Hungarian Diaspora in New York, listening to their experiences and needs.
