The 49th session of the UN Statistical Commission took place in New York on 6‐9 March 2018 around the theme of Better data - better lives, supporting the implementation of the Agenda 2030. The Hungarian delegation at the session was led by Dr. Gabriella Vukovich, the President of Hungary’s Central Statistical Office.
Under the third agenda item, Dr. Gabriella Vukovich, the President of Hungary’s Central Statistical Office presented to the UN Statistical Commission the report of the High-level Group for Partnership, Coordination and Capacity-Building for statistics for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in her capacity as co-chair of the group, together with Morocco.
Upon invitation by the organizers, Dr. Vukovich participated as speaker in two roundtables: on 5 March on Communicating data and statistics - bringing trusted and actionable data to the public, the media and policy-makers, and on 2 March on The data revolution in action - building a federated system of Sustainable Development Goal data hubs and collaborative platform for innovation.
The participants of the session ensured support to the overall aim of implementing the Agenda 2030 and its Sustainable Development Goals, as well as to the ongoing reform of the UN Development System, including the reinvigoration of UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA).
