Informal meeting of the General Assembly to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the mandate on children and armed conflict

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the mandate on children and armed conflict, the General Assembly held an informal meeting in the Trusteeship Council Chamber, focused on reviewing achievements of the children and armed conflict mandate over the past 20 years. Organizing this informal meeting, H.E. Mr. Peter Thomson, the President of the 71st Session of the General Assembly, gave the UN membership an opportunity to be heard on this important topic.

Kick off debate on the Security Council reform

The first informal debate of this years’ round of the Intergovernmental Negotiations (IGN) on the question of equitable representation and increase in the membership of the Security Council took place today in the United Nations Trusteeship Council. As a long-time, supporter of the SC reform process H.E. Katalin Bogyay permanent representative of Hungary reiterated that there is a need for a strong and representative Council. Hungary remains convinced that a realistic reform, a win-win solution can be reached through open dialogue.
